PART 2
At 6:17 PM, I saw a car turn onto my street. It wasn’t a car I recognized. A dark gray Mercedes SUV pulled into my driveway, and a man stepped out carrying a bottle of wine and a small paper bag from a restaurant. He looked to be somewhere in his early forties. Tall. Well-dressed. Confident. Like a man who had visited my house so many times that he no longer felt like a guest. He didn’t knock. He used a key. My key. The same key I had given Sarah years ago for emergencies and family visitors. I watched him open the front door and walk inside. My hands tightened around the steering wheel. For several minutes, I didn’t move. Then my phone vibrated. It was Sarah. Sarah: “Just landed yet? Hope your flight is going smoothly. The kids are already in bed. Miss you.”
PART 3
I stared at the message.
The woman who had kissed me goodbye less than two hours earlier was now telling me she missed me.
I typed:
“Just waiting to board. Love you.”
She replied with a red heart.
I almost laughed.
Not because anything was funny.
But because I suddenly understood how easy it was for someone to lie when they believed there was no chance of being caught.
I waited another twenty minutes.
Then I got out of my car.
I walked slowly down the sidewalk, keeping my head lowered as I approached the house.
The living room curtains were partly open.
Through the gap, I could see Sarah.
She was wearing the blue dress I had bought her for our anniversary.
The man was standing beside her.
She handed him a glass of wine.
Then she kissed him.
Not a quick greeting.
What happened next changed everything… FULL STORY on the next page.
