For the first time since Lisa arrived, she didn’t have an answer ready.

The situation was that my father had allowed it.
The situation was that they both believed I was still the twelve-year-old girl who needed permission to speak.
Then a black SUV slowly turned into the driveway.
Everyone looked toward the street.
The vehicle stopped behind Lisa’s car.
The driver’s door opened.
A man in a dark suit stepped out holding a thick leather folder.
