I was 16 when my parents threw me out for getting pregnant. For 15 years, my twin boys were the only family I had. When I finally remarried, I thought our hardest days were behind us. Then I walked into my living room and found both boys looking terrified of what my husband might say
I got pregnant when I was 16.
When I went to my high school sweetheart, Daniel, and told him the news, he just threw up his hands and said:
“Well, that’s your problem now. I’m not going to ruin my life over this.”
No matter how much I begged him through tears to stay with me and go through it together, he simply left me.
I never saw him or his family again.
Then I went to my parents. I hoped they would at least support me somehow.
But my mom and dad screamed at me:
“You’ve disgraced this family. Get out of this house! Right now!”

I was terrified. I was completely alone.
But when my twin sons, Noah and Ethan, were born, I held them in my arms and cried from happiness.
But those years were so difficult.
I worked as a waitress.
I cleaned other people’s houses on weekends.
Sometimes I even went hungry myself just to make sure my sons had enough to eat.
I had to give up my dream of going to college because I simply didn’t have the money or the time.
But I never once regretted deciding to keep my babies.
They were my whole world.
